Murder for Christmas
An early US edition of Hercule Poirot's Christmas
Hardback, early edition. Bound in brown cloth with gilt titling to spine and blindstamped design and author's name to upper board. 19 × 13cm, 272pp. Collier's editions of Agatha Christie are not the first editions but instead early copies.
This is an early US edition of Hercule Poirot's Christmas. It is Christmas Eve. The Lee family reunion is shattered by a deafening crash of furniture, followed by a high-pitched wailing scream. Upstairs, the tyrannical Simeon Lee lies dead in a pool of blood, his throat slashed. But when Hercule Poirot, who is staying in the village with a friend for Christmas, offers to assist, he finds an atmosphere not of mourning but of mutual suspicion. It seems everyone had their own reason to hate the old man.
A good copy. There is a little fading and rubbing to the cloth but on the whole, this copy is in strong readable condition.
