From the dustwrapper, "Spring Sowing... contains thirty-three stories and sketches, rich in humour, passion, sympathetic insight, and responsive to many emotional moods. Tramps, peasants, fishermen, school-masters, lovers, doctors, farmers, politicians, emigrants, the birds on the cliff, the animals in the fields, the fish in the sea, all in Spring Sowing are depicted with 'the amazing energy, the sanity, and the passion'... of this accomplished writer".

The book itself is in good condition. The boards slightly rubbed and grubby but the inner binding intact and the main body of text in good condition. The dustwrapper is very poor. It is heavily foxed and with significant loss to the rear panel, as well as the corners and spine ends. It has been stamped "Review copy" to the front flap. It is now within protective sleeve.
