A Month at Constantinople
Albert Smith's travels in the Near East in 1849
Third editon, hardback. Half-leather binding with contrasting title label and blindstamped design to spine. 17 × 10cm, xxi + 314pp.
The author's account of a month spent in Constantinople in 1849. The book has illustrations within the text, and describes Smyrna, the Fires at Pera, a gun factory, the slave market, the Dervishes, etc etc and has an appendix of practical details for travellers including expenses, routes and so on.
A good copy. The leather is rubbed to the corners, joints and spine ends an there is light wear to the front hinge but otherwise this is a solid copy.
