Printing Details

First edition, hardback in dustwrapper, bound in the original decorative boards. 21 × 15.5cm, 168pp.

From the dustwrapper, "Ajapa (as the natives of Nigeria call the Tortoise) is so much the most prominent person in these tales that the books has been named after him. There are thirty stories altogether, the folk and fairy tales of the people of West Africa, told in the simple language of the originals for all who enjoy a good fable." This copy is illustrated with eight full-page colour plates.

The book has mottled fading to the decorative covers and slight warping to the boards but the contents are in good clean condition. The dustwrapper is rather tatty and torn to the edges but quite scarce.
