Arthur Machen's semi-autobiographical novel which recounts the life of a young man, Lucian Taylor, focusing on his dreamy childhood in rural Wales, in a town based on Caerleon. The Hill of Dreams of the title is an old Roman fort where Lucian has strange sensual visions, including ones of the town in the time of Roman Britain. Later, the novel describes Lucian's attempts to make a living as an author in London, enduring poverty and suffering in the pursuit of art and history.
Good. As mentioned, the book has been professionally rebound and the binding is tight and secure. The tissue guard to the frontispiece has been damp and adhered to the frontispiece which stuck and torn (please see the image). However, the main body of text is in very good condition with clean pages, there's just a very little staining to the page edges, leaving this a very readable copy.
