Published in the 'Self-Study English Series", this book contain six short ghostly and supernatural tales (Ainsworth's The Witches of Pendle Hill, Dickens' Old Marley's Ghost, Scott's Wandering Willie's Tale, Irving's The Headless Horseman, Marryat's The Werewolf, and Lytton's Arbaces the Magician), this is followed by two pages of exercises such as (from The Werewolf), "make a list of the various incidents in this story which point to the presence of supernatural forces", and more generally "which of the supernatural appearances in this book are 'explained away' by their authors and which are not?
Condition
The book is in very good condition, with a little fading to the boards' edges but the pages are clean and the binding is sound. The dustwrapper is a little creased to the edges but is still in good order.
