The Sleeping Beauty
1920, first edition, beautifully illustrated with Arthur Rackham's silhouettes
First edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper, bound in the original pictorial boards, red cloth backstrip with black printed titling. The dustwrapper with central silhouette and titling, priced 7'6 to the spine. 25.5 × 19cm, 110pp.
Charles Seddon Evans' version of the classic fairy tale. This edition with coloured silhouette title page and frontispiece, one tipped-in colour plate surrounded by silhouettes, and three double page silhouettes with colour and many further black and white silhouettes throughout the book, some full page, others within the text.
A very good copy. The book has minor rubbing to the corners and a neat previous owner's name to the ffep. The inner binding is very secure, the pages clean bar a little general age-toning, hinges intact. The dustwrapper is a little faded to the spine and edges, a little creased along the top edge and with a few small marks but is now within a protective sleeve (hence the sheen in the picture).
