Published by the translator for private circulation
First edition,, hardback bound in burgundy cloth boards with gilt titling to spine and upper board. Top edge gilt, fore edge untrimmed. Frontispiece of a facsimile inscription by Wagner. 19.5 × 13cm, 71pp + ads.
Richard Wagner's 1882 opera loosely based on Parzival by Wolfram von Eschenbach, a 13th-century epic poem of the Arthurian knight Parzival, here presented in English verse by noted translator and Wagnerian, Alfred Forman.
A reading copy. The cloth boards are marked with patches of fading and the burgundy dye from the boards has seeped into the fore-edge of the front pastedown. The inner binding a little strained in places but essentially a decent reading copy. Previous owner's nameplate to ffep.
