First edition, hardback bound in green cloth with gilt decoration and titling to spine and upper board, and tipped in portrait by Brock to the upper board. Top edge gilt. 21.5 × 17cm, 118pp.

This copy has been signed and dedicated by Jeffrey Farnol "To 'Sweet Pea' (Miss Madge Compton) with best wishes for her continued success from admiring and deeply obliged Jeffrey Farnol, Nov 4, 1920". Madge Compton (1893–1970) was an English stage actress, with the occasional foray into film.

An early novel from Jeffrey Farnol, the acknowledged master (with Georgette Heyer) of the Regency romantic genre. Illustrated with eight colour plates by C E Brock.

Condition

This copy is in good condition, but with some wear. There are four small dents to the top edge of the front board, light spotted foxing throughout and one plate is loose (but all present).
