Full title: Fifteen Rounds a Minute; The Grenadiers at War August to December 1914. Edited from the Diaries and Letters of Major "Ma" Jeffreys and others.
This book provides a detailed daily account of one of the finest battalions of the original British Expeditionary Force that crossed over to France in 1914, the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards. The story is told in the words of the officers of the Battalion, few of whom survived the war, taken from their letters and diaries, and covers all the major actions of the first five months of the war—Mons and the Retreat, the Marne, the Aisne, and First Ypres. For the most part, the story is told by Major "Ma" Jeffreys, later General the Lord Jeffreys, whose diaries from a deeply moving and graphic view of the war as seen by an ordinary regimental officer of the old school.
The book is in good solid condition, with a little foxing to the pages' top edge. The dustwrapper has light wear along the edges and some light foxing to the flaps but is otherwise sound.
