This copy has been signed directly to the original cover by 1. Rachel Annand Taylor (1876–1960), a Scottish poet prominent in the Celtic revival, and 2. by Frederick York Powell (1850–1904), an English historian and scholar who had a keen interest in the development of modern French poetry. Paul Verlaine, Stéphane Mallarmé and Emile Verhaeren all lectured at Oxford under his auspices.
A collection of verse from French Symbolist poet Paul Verlaine, originally published in 1884. Notable poems in this collection are Art Poetique, Allegorie and Pierrot.
The leather is quite heavily rubbed with slight loss at the base of the spine and wear to the head. Corners bumped and scuffed. The contents are in very good condition for age, and a rare copy with the association signatures.
