Printing Details

First edition, third impression, revised and enlarged. Hardback, bound in the original blue cloth. 22 × 14cm, 200pp.

This copy has been signed by twelve serving Royal Navy and submarine officers. It was signed at Tigh Na Mara in Scotland in 1943, and the ffep has been signed by eleven officers. I can't make all the names out but the submarines and ships mentioned include HMS Rorqual, P34, P09, and HMS Cyclops. Additionally, the photograph opposite p113 has been signed by Commander Jacky Slaughter who is seen in the picture.

An account (up to 1943) of the Royal Navy's submarines in the Second World War, the action they saw and the hazards they faced. Illustrated with photographs.

The signatures make this a rare copy, but the book is in quite poor condition. The blue cloth is heavily rubbed and creased, and the inner binding is in a sorry state. No pages are yet detached but there is significant weakening and pulling —but then again, who knows what action this copy saw?
