This copy comes from the library of Fleur Cowles, the American writer, artist and founder of Flair magazine, and has been signed by John Gunther, "For Mike and Fleur—always, John. Now this book is small but still like me, very fat—J". Mike was Fleur Cowles' third husband Gardner Cowles (known as Mike), the heir to the Cowles Media Company. Fleur Cowles' library plate by Sotherans is also pasted in.

Illustrated with maps, Inside U.S.A. was one the 1940s best selling books. It describes the author's observations during 13 months of travel through the 48 U.S. states beginning in November 1944.


This copy is in very good condition, with a little scuffing to the rear joint and some tanning to the page edges.
