The Poetical Works of Walter Scott
c1864, in an attractive pressed leather binding
Hardback, bound in pressed leather with gilt titling to spine and upper board, all edges gilt. 17 × 10cm, xvi + 624pp.
There is an interesting previous owner's inscription to the ffep, "At a recitation of poetry which took place at Demesne in August 1864, the Venerable Arch. Roe being judge. The first prize was awrded to Jane Bridge of Ashbury and this volume is therefore presented to her by Patten S Bridge."
Illustrated with eight engravings on steel, this is a collection of Walter Scott's verse.
An attractive copy. The leather is in very good condition. There is heavy foxing to the endpapers and the front hinge is a little weak but otherwise a nice copy.
