Not signed as such but this copy comes from the library of Kimbolton Castle in Huntingdonshire and has a shelf reference to the front pastedown. It is signed by Millicent Sparrow to the title page who married George Montagu, the 6th Duke of Manchester and who loved at Kimbolton.
Full title: The Constitution of England; or, an Account of the English Government; in which it is Compared both with the Republican Form of Government and the other Monarchies in Europe.
This was political theorist de Lolme's most famous work, first published in 1771. In it he advocated a constitutional form of government enshrining the principle that monarchy, aristocracy and democracy should be balanced against each other.
In generally good condition for age but the leather is rubbed and scuffed and the pages lightly foxed throughout.
