Printing Details

First edition, hardback bound in the original green cloth with gilt titling and design to spine and upper board. 20.5 × 14cm, 448pp.

This copy was Professor Morton N Cohen's working copy. Professor Cohen was the pre-eminent authority on Lewis Carroll writing the definitive biography and edited his letters, as well as collection of other aspects of Carroll's life. Professor Cohen has signed the ffep, and made a number of annotations to the margins. I have also left his bookmarks in place.

The author was Lewis Carroll's nephew, and here writes of his uncles life and work as an author, mathematician and logician. Illustrated with photographs.

Condition

Poor. As mentioned, this was Morton Cohen's working copy. The cloth is very heavily frayed and faded, the backstrip detached at the rear joint and the inner binding weak. It is sold as an item of interest due to its provenance, rather than as a readable copy of the book.
