The Last Bout
Little known Great War fiction from Rosamond Southey
First edition, first printing. Hardback, bound in the original red cloth with printed titling to spine and upper board. 19 × 12.5cm, 302pp + ads
A novel set during the Great War. I know little about it other than a contemporary review which "dared the reader to greet as original, the intertwinings of love and war". The author was better known for Storm and Sunshine in South Africa (1910).
This book is part of a collection from the library of Alice Thomas Ellis, the author, who was fiction editor at Duckworth, the publishing house run by her husband Colin Haycraft. (Provenance: Trevanion & Dean)
This copy is in very good condition for age, slight fading and bumping but a sound copy.
