A rare book from antiquarian John Timbs on the marvels and eccentricities of the natural world, including a chapter (with illustration) on Mermaids, and a chapter entitled Is the Unicorn Fabulous? Other creatues are the hedgehog, the hippoptamus, bats, toucans etc etc. The book is illustrated with 8 plates including the double fish and the tree-climbing crab.

School prize label to the front pastedown is to Hazeltin A Robson for excellence in a written examination in geology.

Condition

The leather is rubbed to the edges and quite heavily scuffed to the spine. However, the contents are in very good condition. Previous owner's inscription to the ffep.
