La Rose de Jericho
with a delightful fold-out colour plate
First French edition, bound in half-leather with gilt titling and decoration to the spine. 17 × 10cm, iv + 229pp. French text.
Isabelle Montolieu's novel from the German of David Hess on the anastica flower, which legend has as an aid to women in labour. The book comes with a charming foldout colour plate and explanation of the Rose of Jericho, and a title page engraving of three people examing the plant.
A fair copy. There is loss to the leather spine (4cm from the base) and some wear to the front joint, General overall rubbing but the book is in sound condition. The pages have age-related toning and foxing but the inner binding is secure. The colour plate has been creased when folded back but is complete.
