One-legged Charley Summers is finally home from the war—only to find he must now deal with the death of his lover, Rose. A shell-shocked romantic, Charley begins to have trouble telling Rose's half-sister Nancy apart from the late Rose. Charley's delusions elevate his timid courtship of a practical and unremarkable young woman into an amnesiac love story, both comic and disturbing.

A good reading copy. This book is ex-library but the only signs are a stamp to the copyright page and the rear endpaper is lacking. The re is some spotted foxing to the prelims, and the wrapper is a bit worn to the edges and fits slightly loosely but the front panel by Vanessa Bell retains its charm.
