Printing Details

First edition, hardback bound in the original yellow cloth with gilt titling to spine. 22 × 14cm, 312pp.

The first English edition of Im Land der Stürme (1930) by Emil Trinkler, a German geologist and explorer of Asia. He described an expedition he took in 1927 through Central Asia, and studying the people, culture, transport and landscape of the areas he travelled through. Illustrated with black and white photographs and a fold-out map.

A good copy but with some wear. The yellow cloth is bumped to the corners and dulled to the spine. Some creasing and small tears to the cloth at the spine ends. The front hinge is worn but holding well, and the prelims are tanned. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown with the name scratched out. The inner binding secure but pulled at page 64/65 with the plate there working loose. However, it's a perfectly readable copy of a rare travelogue.
