This is The Bodley Head's 1926 Collected Works, complete in eight volumes. The titles are: 1. The Unbearable Bassington (1926), introduction by Maurice Baring. 2. The Westminster Alice (1927), illustrated by F Carruthers Gould, intro by J A Spender. 3. The Toys of Peace and Other Papers (1926) and a Memoir. Introduction by G K Chesterton 4. The Chronicles of Clovis (1926), introduction by A A Milne. 5. When William Came, A Story of London under the Hohenzollerns (1926), introduction by Lord Charnwood. 6. The Square Egg and Other Sketches with Three Plays, with a Biography by his Sister (1926), introduction by J C Squire. 7. Reginald and Reginald in Russia (1926). Introduction by Hugh Walpole. 8. Beasts and Super-Beasts (1926), with an Introduction by H W Nevinson.
All eight books are in good, strong readable condition. There is some fading to the spines of Westminster Alice and The Square Egg as can be seen in the photos. Neat previous owner's name to the three of the books, light wear to the hinges of Westminster Alice, and Beasts and Super-Beasts has some lifting to the cloth of the front board.
