Printing Details

Third edition, hardback bound in the original light blue cloth with gilt titling to spine. 19 × 12cm, xliv + 514pp.

Full title: The Venerable Bede's Ecclesiastical History of England, and the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle. With Illustrative Notes, a Map of Anglo-Saxon England and a General Index.

Bede's Ecclesiastical History is a history of the Christian Churches in England, and of England generally; its main focus is on the conflict between the pre-Schism Roman Rite and Celtic Christianity. This copy also includes the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle which is a collection of annals in Old English chronicling the history of the Anglo-Saxons.

A good copy. The cloth is rubbed, the inner binding is a little pulled in places and there is some age-toning to the pages. However, the book remains perfectly readable.
