First (and only) edition. Hardback, quarter cloth with brown paper covered boards and title label to spine and upper board. Fore-edges untrimmed. 22.5 × 14.5cm, 233pp.

The memoirs of Gordon Strachey Shephard, a Royal Flying Corps commander and the highest ranking officer of the flying services to be killed during the First World War. Includes his early days at Eton, soldiering and yachting (he was an adventurous sailor) and finishing with the Great War. The book is illustrated with a facsimile of the memorial scroll from the King, six photos and two maps.

Condition

This copy is in very good condition, there is some bumping to the boards' edges and foxing to the untrimmed edges. A previous owner has annotated Shane Leslie's name in pencil with his full title. The binding is secure and all plates are present.
