The New Eden (Signed copy)
Signed by C J Cutcliffe Hyne to his father, his second work of speculative fiction
First edition, hardback bound in the original orange / tan cloth with printed titling to spine and upper board. 19.5 × 12.5cm, 258pp + 24pp ads.
Inscribed and dedicated by the author to the ffep, "C W N Hyne with the author's compliments, 11 Oct, 1892". C W B Hyne was Charles Wright Noble Hyne, the author's father who was Vicar of Bierley in West Yorkshire.
C. J. Cutcliffe Hyne's second work of speculative fiction in which a scientist isolates a boy and girl on two remote tropical islands for experimental purposes. Hyne was best known for his Captain Kettle adventures.
Fair condition only but a scarce title to find signed. The cloth is heavily rubbed and bumped, and is marked to the upper board and spine. There is also a forward lean to the spine. The inner binding is holding fast but is a little pulled in places but the pages are generally clean and the book is readable. The book has an unused library ticket to the front endpaper but it is blank so I don't think it was in circulation.
