Illustrated with four colour and 16 black & white tipped-in plates, and nine headpieces, this is a deluxe edition of P C Wren's classic novel of the French Foreign Legion, Beau Geste which details the adventures of three English brothers who enlist separately in the French Foreign Legion following the theft of a valuable jewel from the country house of a relative. While written in 1924 the novel is set in the period before World War I.
This is a good solid copy but with some wear. There is fading to the spine and the top segment of the red cloth to the upper board. The blue cloth boards have a brown mark to the bottom of the upper board and along the fore-edge of the rear board. The untrimmed page edges are tanned with some spotted foxing, and there is light foxing to the prelims. The main body of text is in good, clean condition. The inner binding is secure and all plates are present.
