"Tangier, city of many freedoms, is the scene of Robin Maugham's brilliant and disturbing novel about the consequences of emtional blackmail. Arnold Turner, a repressed homosexual who teaches at an English approved school, is on holiday in Tangier. He strikes up an acquaintance with a wealthy Anglo-American resident who offers him the means of sharing a comfortable future with an Arab boy. Arnold accepts; but after he has returned to England to carry out his own side of the bargain, he realizes the price that he has agreed to pay... The Wrong People is a hard-edged thriller about a corrosive relationships formed among a group of unwilling exiles from normal society, relationships which, as Cyril Connolly writes in his preface, "are doomed to either infidelity or boredom".

A good plus copy. The wrapper is in good order but has a few closed tear to the top edge. The book is in good clean condition apart from spotted foxing tot he pages' top edge.
