Signed and dedicated by Frederic Villiers to the half-title, "To my dear Friends Mr & Mrs Edwin Tate, in memory of pleasant days. My first book, Frederic Villiers, 17.x.1902"
An early autobiography of the British war artist and war correspondent. This book details some of the wars and travels he has covered from the Russo-Turkish war of 1877, the army march to Jellalabad in 1876, the Greco-Turkish War of 1892, with the Russian army in the Balkans and so on. The book has a portrait frontispiece, and forty-eight illustrations from drawings and photographs.
Condition
Unfortunately the backstrip (spine) has become neatly detached from the book and the joint is weakening a little. The boards are rubbed to the corners, and there is a slight warp to the rear board. However, the contents are in good condition and all plates are present. A rare title to find signed.
