First edition, hardback bound in the original blue cloth with gilt titling to spine and blindstamped titling to upper board. 19.5 12.5cm, 260pp.

The author's first book, with sixteen illustrations and seven plans (maps etc, and including a fold out track plan of the HMS Southampton). This book recounts the author's service with the Grand Fleet, serving on HMS Southampton and 11th Submarine Flotilla. He gained the rank of commander. Chapters include Scapa Flow, the Heligoland Bight Action, Jutland, HMS Ramillies, the U-Boat Surrender etc.

Condition

This copy is in very good condition. There is minor rubbing to the boards and the gilt titling has faded a little to the spine. The pages are clean, if a little age-toned, the inner binding secure. All plates and plans present as per the plate index.
