First edition, first printing. Hardback with printed titling to spine and upper board. 22 × 14.5cm, 266pp.

Signed to the ffep by Roy Jenkins, with a further inscription to Labour MP and High Commissioner to Australia, Edward Williams.

A biography of Clement Attlee by Roy Jenkins who knew him (his father had been Attlee's PPS). Jenkins writes about Attlee's early life in Putney, his schooling and entry into politics, with the Spanish Civil War, the outbreak of the Second World War and ending up with his winning election of 1945 and his entry into Downing Street.

Condition

A good plus copy. There is some loss to the printed titling to the spine and upper board, and a few small marks and scuffs to the covers. Internally, the binding is sound and the pages clean, if a little age-toned.
