Not signed but this copy carries the bookplate of John, Duke of Bedford. This was John Russell, 6th Duke of Bedford, British Whig politician and father of John Russell, 1st Earl Russell, Prime Minister 1865–66.

Six issues of The Gentleman's Magazine starting with January 1824 (despite the title stating December) through to June, with a host of notices, articles and illustrations, including full page plates. All illustrations are present as per the plate index, with some being indexed more than once and a few of the full page plates being bound at different places. This selection carries the obituary notice for Lord Byron. The plates include Sydney in New South Wales, Wordwell in Suffolk, and the hospital of St Nicholas at Richmond, Yorks.
The contents are in very good condition, with a little tanning and foxing. The binding is in good strong condition with some rubbing and wear to the corners, spine ends and joints.
