This set belonged to the American-born British essayist and critic, Logan Pearsall Smith, who has signed the ffep of volume one in pencil. He has also made a few pencil annotations to the rear endpapers and on the last page indicated that he finished the book on July 11, 1905.
The autobiography of Sir Henry Taylor (1800–1886), the English dramatist and poet, official, and well-connected man of letters.
Poor. This is a reference set only. Apart from heavy general overall wear, volume one's text block has become separated from the binding and the rear board of volume two is heavily stained. However, quite scarce books and nice with the Pearsall Smith connection.
