The Abyssinian Crisis (Signed copy)
Signed by Frank Hardie
First edition, hardback in dustwrapper. 22 × 14cm. , 294pp.
Signed and dedicated by Frank Hardie to the ffep, "To Dick [Professor Richard Swift], from Frank, the march of progress having bought upon the world another—& bigger?—Abyssinian crisis. (Fourth of July, 1978)"
From the dustwrapper, "The outcome of the Abyssinian crisis of 1935 was the first great act of appeasement. It confirmed Mussolini and Hitler in power, promoted the alliance between them, destroyed the League of Nations, and so, apparently unavoidably, led to the Second World War. Although its importance has been overshadowed by Munich, it was the turning point of the 1930s".
The book is in good strong condition, the dustwrapper a little creased to the edges, faded to the spine and has a small stain to the front cover.
