First thus, hardback, bound in quarter leather with cloth covered boards, gilt decoration, titling and four raised bands to the spine. All edges gilt. 24 × 16.5cm, 527pp.

Melville's classic American novel of 1851, in which Sailor Ishmael tells the story of the obsessive quest of Ahab, captain of the whaler Pequod, for revenge on Moby Dick, the white whale that on the previous whaling voyage bit off Ahab's leg at the knee.
