The Complete Poetical Works of Thomas Chatterton
1906, in two volumes. Includes the Rowley Poems
Two volumes (complete). Small hardbacks with gilt decoration to spines. 15.5 × 10.5cm, xxxii + 221pp, viii +222pp.
The poems of Thomas Chatterton, who committed suicide in 1770 aged 17 and was considered a great loss to English verse. Volume 1 carries his acknowledged poems, volume two are the Rowley Poems, where Chatterton wrote in the persona of an imaginary 15th century monk, Thomas Rowley.
A decent set. There is some fading to the spine, and the gilt decoration is rather dulled.
