Printing Details

First UK edition, second impression. Hardback, bound in the original cloth with printed red titling to spine and upper board. 19 × 12cm, 285pp.

A rare German anti-war novel of trench life in the Great War. The author served as a medic on the Western Front from 1915 to 1918 and this novel comes from his experiences. Interestingly, he served in the same regiment as Adolf Hitler (a runner) whom he described in his notebooks of the time as an opportunistic rabble-rouser.

A good copy. There is a lean to the spine and four spotted stained to the spine. The cloth is in good order. The front hinge is starting but the binding is secure and the pages clean.
