Printing Details

First edition, second impression. Hardback. 25.5 × 18.5cm, 187pp.

This copy has the bookplate of Edwin Thomas Cook, The First or Grenadier Guards to the ffep, below an inscription to him that reads "To My Beloved Tom, Christmas 1943, Floreat Etona". What makes this inscription and bookplate so poignant is that Edwin Cook was a Major in the 6th Battalion Grenadier Guards and was in the assault on Monte Cassino. He was reported as missing in November 1943 but not confirmed as died of wounds until May 1944.

A book that details the life of the staff and pupils at Eton College, illustrated throughout with black and white photographs.

The book is in fair condition, with some heavy mottling to the covers. The contents are in good order, as is the bookplate.
