H G Wells's prophetic novel about the importance of aerial warfare and the coming of World War One. Bert Smallways is accidentally whisked off to Germany by balloon on the eve of their departure for war and witnesses the Battle of the North Atlantic and the Battle of New York. The book is illustrated by A C Michael.
This copy is in rough condition, and is a reading copy only. The cloth is rubbed and faded and one plate is missing (there are 15 of 16 present). The inner binding is in fairly good condition, the pages are a little brittle. However, the book remains perfectly readable.
