An Index to Periodical Literature
1853, an alphabetical arrangement by author and subject
First US edition, hardback, rebound in plain blue cloth with gilt titling to spine. 24 × 14.5cm. x, 521pp.
Poole's index trawls the major English and American journals of the time (American Almanac, Christian Examiner, Bibliotheca Sacra, Dublin University Magazine, New York Review etc etc) and has categorised all the subjects, arranged alphabetically by author, subject etc. Quite scarce to find in the first edition, it was expanded and reprinted throughout the late 19th century.
In case of interest, this copy, whilst unsigned, comes from the library of Morton N Cohen, the Lewis Carroll and Victorian literature scholar.
A good copy. The blue cloth is clean, the inner binding secure and the pages clean, if a little tanned.
