Printing Details

First German edition, hardback, professionally rebound with laid-in original illustration to front board, cloth spine and paper covered boards. 19 × 12cm, 109pp + 3pp ads. German language, printed in Gothic script.

A rare German Great War book, being the experiences of a German soldier in an airship balloon tethered to the ground and utilised to reconnoitre enemy positions from the German trenches secured only by a rope and a belt. The book is illustrated with black and white photographs showing preparations for launch and when in action. This is a very rare WW1 book, I have been able to locate no other copies for sale, with copies only held in library collections.

Very good for age. As mentioned the book has been rebound so the binding is in very good order. There is an ink signature to the front board but I cannot tell if this might be the author's or owner's. The pages are lightly tanned but in good order.
