A Biographical and Critical Appreciation (1906)
First edition, hardback bound in the original red cloth with gilt titling to spine and upper board. Top edge gilt, fore-edge untrimmed.19.5 × 13cm, viii 302pp.
An early biography of George MacDonald, author of At the Back of the North Wind, published a year after his death. Starting with his early days and Manchester friends, the book goes on to examine his attributes as a novelist, such as the poetic interpretation of nature, his Scotch and English stories, and his children's stories.
A good reading copy. The spine is sunned and the boards have some light marking. The pages edges are tanned where untrimmed but the contents are in good condition with clean pages and secure binding.
