The tale of the remarkable woman who, starting from the lowest beginnings, became the concubine of the second of the T'ang emperors, and the Empress of the third. Ruling after his death for twenty years, she was the undisputed and absolute mistress of an empire which stretched over vaster distances than that of ancient Rome.


The book is in good condition with some spotted foxing to the page edges. The dustwrapper has some grubby surface marks but has not been price-clipped and is now within a protective sleeve.
