E Owen Jennings signed Christmas card 1939
With a charming woodcut of a fish
The woodcut is signed in pencil and the card carries a further inscription "Christmas Greetings, 1939. May & Owen"
1939. Woodcut depicting a fish, printed in deep blue. One sheet folded once one edge untrimmed. Size when folded 15 × 10cm, image size 5 × 5cm.
Edgar Owen Jennings (1899–1985). He studied at Skipton School of Art, Leeds College of Art and the Royal College of Art. He taught art at Doncaster and Leeds before becoming principal at Tunbridge Wells School of Art. He was a member of both the Royal Society of Painter-Etchers and Engravers and the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours.
This woodcut is in good condition. There is some tanning and surface browning to the page, and a little gentle creasing.
