Colditz; Breakpoint! (Signed copy)
An LP of the Colditz experience, signed by Pat Reid
This is an EMI LP (TPSM 2001; Stereo) called Colditz Breakpoint! from 1973. Devised by Colditz escaper Major Pat Reid, M.B.E., M.C., and has been signed and dedicated by Pat Reid to the back cover "For Eric, hope you enjoy the record, Pat Reid".
This album was devised by Reid following the dramatization of his book The Colditz Story and tries to convey the mood of Colditz by using snippets of music that prisoners would have heard (Addinsell's Warsaw Concerto; Gracie Fields; Arthur Askey, George Formby, and SS Standarte 42 Military Band etc etc...) as well as synthesizer effects from Ken Elliott.
As Pat Reid writes in his introduction, "This record has been created for your imagination. It is a song without words, a film without a screen, an opera without libretto. There is no musical score and no script; no straightjacket to dictate the terms of your experience. It will be something new, I think, for you; a very personal experience which you will live, in your imagination, as a prisoner with me in Colditz..."
There is a little light wear to the sleeve and the record looks to be in very good condition, though it is unplayed by us.
