Full title: Christ Church, Oxford, An Anthology in Prose and Verse Selected by Arthur Hassall, MA Student of Christ Church, Oxford, with 26 Plates in Colour Reproduced from Paintings by Arthur Garratt and from Portraits in the Great Hall.
A collection of writings about Christ Church, Oxford, from the Elizabethan era through to the early twentieth century. Writings include the expulsion of John Locke, a visit from the ambassador of Morocco, the poetry includes Matthew Arnold (from The Scholar Gypsy) and Hymn for Use in Time of War. The book is illustrated with wonderful reproduction paintings by Arthur Garratt, each tipped-in on a gold background, and other paintings from the college.
Good condition, the contents are in good, clean condition and all plates are present. There is some browning to the page edges. The cloth binding is rubbed and faded all over with some bumping to the corners. However it remains an attractive book.
