A collation of criticism, staging and interviews
First edition, first printing. Hardback in dustwrapper. 21 × 14cm, 176pp.
Theatre Workbook 1 collates critical reviews and interviews with actors and directors, scholarly articles, and most irreplaceably of all, sets of production notes from the Schiller-Theater Werkstatt (1969), the Récamier (1970), the Théâtre d’Orsay (1975), and the San Quentin Berlin Festival (1977) productions, all directed by Beckett himself. With a few illustrations of Beckett's manuscript and photographs of actors.
This copy is in very good condition, with a little light foxing to the page edges. Previous owner's gift inscription to the ffep (in this case signed to a Roger and Claudia from Paddy Broughton and his wife, Jenny, he was a theatre press officer who had once met Beckett...according to his obituary).
