Undated but c1844 as per COPAC. Hardback, assumed first edition. 23 × 15cm, 86pp.

Quite a scarce collection of Robin Hood ballads (twenty-seven in all), with occasional illustration and engraved title page of Nottingham Castle. Also with publisher's advert bound in at p.38. A sample of titles: Robin Hood and Allen-a-Dale; RH and the Jolly Pindar of Wakefield; The Famous Battle between RH and the Curtal Friar, near Fountain Dale; RH and the Golden Arrow. The book is printed on quite thin paper and each page has double-lined margin.

Condition

The cloth binding is in fairly poor condition. The backstrip is all but detached with loss to spine ends. The boards in acceptable condition. The contents are in good condition, the pages lightly tanned but the binding secure. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Some pages uncut, others cut a little scruffily.
