Robinson Crusoe's seafaring adventures are abruptly ended when he is shipwrecked, the solitary survivor on a deserted island. He gradually creates a life for himself, building a house, cultivating the land, and making a companion from the native whose life he saves. This copy illustrated by J D Watson.
A fair copy of a rare binding. The spine has been relaid with new cloth and the original cloth laid down, and the book has new endpapers. The boards are heavily rubbed to the corners and edges, but the giltwork remains in good order. There is a slight forward lean. The inner binding is sound, the pages in good condition but with light intermittent foxing. The gilt edging to the pages is starting to wear thin. The title page has been signed by a previous owner, in this case A H Moncrieff, an author.
