First edition, full leather. 20 × 12cm, ciii , 204pp. Latin text.
Full title: Antiquitates Prioratus Majoris Malverne in agro Wicciensi. Cum chartis originalibus easdem illustrantibus, ex registris sedis episcopalis Wigorniensis : Nunc primum editis
A rare but defective copy of Thomas Williams' description of the antiquities of Malvern. The author was Rector of St Nicholas in Worcester. This copy has the fold-out map of Malvern and adjacent towns as well as the Malvern Priory plate but the architectural plan of the Priory is mostly missing with just one page width remaining.
A poor copy, suitable for reference. The leather is worn an rubbed to all edges, with the front board detached. The ffep is detached also. The inner binding for the remainder of the book is fair. There is a water stain to the outer corner running throughout the book and effecting about half of each page but this is quite faint. The map has a clear tape repair to the outer edge and as mentioned, the floor plan of the Priory is only partially remaining. The pages age-toned with some creasing to the edges. Overall, a reference copy.
