Almanack of Hope
Pudney's sonnets beautifully illustrated by John Nash
First edition, hardback in dustwrapper. 17.5 × 14cm, 32pp.
"Almanack of Hope is a sonnet sequence that belongs neither to war nor peace. Written before the invasion (1944) and corrected in Normandy, it reveals the greatest depth in this poet's work so far, moods of contemplation, of self-examination and of hope". Each sonnet is illustrated with a full page drawing by John Nash, who also designed the dustwrapper which is repeated to the front board and title page.
The small book is in very good condition, with a little foxing to the page edges. The dustwraper is a bit tanned with slight loss to the spine ends but has not been price-clipped and is now within a protective sleeve.
